Loved it. Was not expecting the food to be so good. My first plate I had to tell someone and texted all my friends they need to add this place to their next brunch location. There was so many options of food on the brunch buffet. Even vegan options. Definitely coming back to try dinner and definitely for more brunch.

So we decided to try out Marcus B&G for my birthday celebration. They accommodated our reservation for 8 during their rush on a Saturday which gets praise off the top. The service was great. The waiter was attentive and responsive. So A+. The atmosphere is a vibe. Festive but not to loud from the jump. Decorated with obvious nods to the Atlanta scene- music, roller skates, etc., but also with other seemingly out of place pieces, such as the Prince Album shrine at the bar that matched the meat cooks people chef jacket and hat!. Loved that and had to take a pic. With 8 people we ordered appetizers of a few corn bread skillets, everything wings, and roller skate ribs. All were excellent. The cornbread really gives you corn bread your way. If you like the sweet jiffy mix type of corn bread you have what seems to be a sweet whipped butter. If you don't like it sweet, like me, then drop the butter. Actually I added the butter back, it was tasty! The wings were great cooked perfectly and not too much spice for those that can't handle it. I prefer blue cheese over ranch but that's a very minor quip. The ribs were the start of the apps. Tender and tasty. Everyone enjoyed them. The entrees. With 8 people we had 3 cat fish, 2 salmon, a miso striped bass, chicken and corn bread waffles and my lamb chops with several sides including collard greens and Mac n cheese. The catfish was universally praised by 2 native Mississippian self proclaimed catfish experts. The salmon was mixed because one came very overcooked and since that one was requested without the couscous and sauce I'm surprised the Kitchen manager allowed it to even come to the table. We asked for a redo and it came back almost naked with only the chemichuri and cooked perfectly. The miso Bass was excellent. Perfectly cooked bass even though the miso was on the sweet did. But my wife loved it so no complaints. The chicken and corn bread waffles were delicious. A pet piece of mine is any version of boneless chicken to execute chicken and waffles. The fried leg and thigh were cooked expertly and the corn bread waffle with maple syrup was delicious. Finally I had the lamb chops. I ordered them at the strong approval of our server. For me they were thin, we'll done, not close to medium as requested and overly fatty. Well done as in no pink in any except for once of the 4 or 5 pieces. Also the au jus was too sweet and I didn't like the flavor profile. Very disappointing on otherwise pretty good execution. I would rather have thicker cuts and fewer pieces to get the cook right. We ordered the old fashion, the mezcal, Gamay, and a reisling. All were good. Iam not big of rye over Bourbon but this was done well and I appreciate the touch of rosemary springs and slivers of orange peel in the ice block. A's to the collards and Mac n cheese. They were excellent. The collards were more sweet than savory. I grew up with and expect savory but this slightly sweet version was very good as well. We skipped dessert. It was my birthday and my wife brought cupcakes which they charged to allow us to eat, more than understandable considering they're in the business of seeking food which they make none while we sit another 10 minutes to eat cupcakes. Overall this was a really good meal with great service sans the lamb chops but my error for not giving them a chance to make it right as they did with the salmon.

Service was great and the food was delicious. Chef Carl was an amazing host the entire time we were there at his table. And the vibe is awesome thru out the entire building.

My family and I had made a reservation via Open Table and were seated immediately. Yay! 1. Taste of Food: lamb chops 10/10; two ribs 10/10; salmon with couscous 7/10; cornbread 10/10; Mac & cheese 5/10 (half liked, half didn't); cocktails 5/10. Several of us ordered lamb chops but all felt they were too expensive to not come with sides. Those with salmon said it was pretty basic. They expected lasting flavors coming from Marcus. 2. Service: good but not great 7/10; Our server was knowledgeable of the menu and on top of most things but she seemed to be in a rush. She never refilled our teas or wiped the table of excessive water/sweat from the glasses because they were no coasters. With no refills I was still thirsty so I asked for a to-go cup of tea and was told that they don't have to-go cups. Huh? We knew of the 2-hr limit but the hostess felt the need to remind us before our time was even up. In 30-seconds, we went from feeling welcomed to unwelcomed. We knew she was just doing her job set by leadership but timing is everything. 3. Ambiance: 8/10 Marcus B&G is beautifully decorated. However the hallway leading to the restrooms seems unfinished. A couple of paintings or framed album covers would do the job. We liked that we could see the chefs in the kitchen. We could tell the head chef really enjoys his job, which was a treat. Overall, it's ideal for romantic dates and families. We would love to return to try the brunch.

We reserved a time around 11 which was perfect before the crowd. The seating was plentiful and spaced out just right. There was patio seating, bar seating, etc. The music and energy were just right. Not too loud. Our waitress took our drink orders and thoroughly explained everything to us. The buffet had PLENTY of choices, from breakfast items to gumbo, to Mac n cheese and collard greens and salmon. Sooo many choices, so we had to portion our plates and keep going back for more. We will definitely be back and support this business. The food was so good!

I am always skeptical of "celebrity chef-owned" restaurants. Let me tell you, Marcus Bar & Grille blew all my doubt out of the water and exceeded my expectations. Kudos to Chef Marcus Samuelsson - I should have never doubted you! :D Our server, I believe her name was Candy/Kandi, was amazing! She had the best recommendations and explained the menu in a way that showed she truly cared if we enjoyed our meal. We started with the cornbread. The best cornbread in Atlanta (to me) is another Black-owned restaurant, but the Marcus skillet cornbread is a close runner-up. I had never had a cornbread waffle before, but I'm so glad our server recommended it. I loved it! Historically, I haven't been the biggest fan of savory waffles, but this made me a believer. The sauce/glaze that comes with it was slightly sweet and slightly spicy, but it really pairs well with the waffle and chicken. Parking on Edgewood isn't the most convenient (no private lot), but there's lots of street parking and valet is also available. The decor inside and the way items are named on the menu are very Atlanta-centric, but not in a corny way. The skates on the wall were so fly to me, and the overall vibe was so nice. Since visiting a couple months back, I've told so many people about it and have highly recommended MBG. I'll definitely be back!

Love this location in the local Atlanta community. Ambiance is very Afro centric and comfortable with a great bar area. We were on a double date and couldn't have asked for a better 1st time experience. I had the Australian lamb chops and wow! 1st off you get 5 huge chops and they were delicious! Service from hostess to server was top notch, we will def be back!

I really loved Marcus B&G! We came with a group of 8 and were able to be seated right away, the staff were super accommodating when an extra person popped by after we sat down, and overall the service was great! The food in my opinion was delicious, I opted for the prixe fix menu that they had at the time, where you get half an appetizer, half a meal with a side, and a dessert, and it was delicious and filling. I was worried it would be either too much or too little but honestly the amount of food was just perfect. I got the skater ribs (cooked perfectly!), the king salmon with Brussel sprouts (again, perfectly cooked and the flavors were amazing), and for dessert I think they were out of the peach cobbler so I got some sorbet that was great, tart just the way I like it. The ambiance was really fun too, you can see part of the kitchen which I always love, and the decorations from the roller skates to the artwork was sort of eclectic but also cohesive. Plus with the high ceilings and the lighting, it was really nice. I will definitely be going back!

If you haven't been to Marcus Bar & Grille, you need to add them to your list today! The food was great, the cocktails were tasty, and the ambiance was a vibe! I came here for my birthday dinner and was greeted quickly once I walked in, we were a table of two, and got seated at the high bar table near the front. Our server was attentive and helped explained the menu and told us what we should try since we were first time visitors! GOOD EATS: M's Cornbread, Everything Wings, B & G Burger, Edgewood Brisket, Wood Fired Four Cheese Lobster Mac, GOOD DRINKS: James Baldwin d'usse, espresso, kahlúa, demerara syrup I will be back! I can't wait to check out the brunch next!

So MB&G is located in the heart of Edgewood. They advertise valet parking but I didn't see the valet so ended up circling a few times to get street parking. I had a reservation at 11am so parking wasn't too terrible. The restaurant has a cute aesthetic and is family friendly. The music isn't so loud that you can't hear your party and the tables are decently spaced. The brunch is a buffet that offers an assortment of traditional breakfast foods with a soul twist and then just traditional soul food. Some dishes needed a bit more seasoning, but overall, I was pleased with the selection and quality. My main complaint is the mandatory 20% gratuity for a buffet. Like come on y'all. Our waitress brought syrup, our drinks, and the check. I even had to ask the host (who was very pleasant) to get her attention for me because I tried to flag her down for like 15 mins to get an itemized copy of my bill. While the service was not 20% gratuity worthy at all, I'll likely revisit with my parents for the experience.
